The National Cancer Registrars Association is hiring a freelance medical copy editor for an ongoing assignment copy editing the association’s quarterly professional journal. The copy editor will receive Word documents of feature and scientific articles, associated PowerPoint slides, and PDFs to apply a consistent formatting, and provide light to moderate copy editing as needed following American Medical Association (AMA) style. In addition, the copy editor will format tables and convert scientific posters into an article format, as well as prepare an annual index of the Journal following the winter issue. The copy editor will work with the editor-in-chief, layout artist, and authors, as needed, to make corrections to the PDF issue proof and will apply hyperlinks to the final PDF.
Qualifications include proficiency with AMA style; Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; and Adobe Acrobat. A minimum of 2 years’ copy-editing experience and a bachelor’s degree in a related field are preferred.
